Inter and Atalanta are both considering asking to have their opening 2020/21 Serie A fixtures postponed according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The 2020/21 Serie A season is due to commence on the weekend of September 19 and 20 but both Inter and Atalanta could request to start their respective campaigns the following week.
The reason for this is they have both continued playing longer than any other Serie A team this season due to their European commitments and want to have the opportunity to have a suitable post-season break.
Atalanta’s European campaign came to an end last night following an agonising loss to Paris Saint-Germain as they conceded twice in the final minutes to lose 2-1.
Inter are still involved in the Europa League until at least this coming Monday and if they win their semi final against Shakhtar Donetsk their Europea League campaign will be extended to August 21.
