At long last, soccer.
More than three months after being put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Serie A will make its long-awaited return on June 20. League officials made the announcement late last month, with Italian sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora giving the “all clear” after discussions with members of the government.
Juventus currently holds a slim one-point advantage over Lazio at the top of the table after defeating Inter in one of the last matches before the season was paused. Inter lies in third place, nine points behind the leaders, but with a game in hand on the top two. The final Champions League spot currently belongs to Atalanta in fourth place, but Roma is lurking close behind.
The league will return in limited fashion the first weekend to let teams with a game in hand catch up. Things will kick off on Saturday, with Torino hosting Parma before Hellas Verona takes on Cagliari in the later game. Then, Sassuolo travels to play Atalanta and Inter faces Sampdoria on Sunday. The rest of the league will be returning to action throughout the following week.
Here’s the schedule for Serie A’s postponed Matchday 25 fixtures.
